The $330 Billion Question: How do we unlock MSME potential?
Investor Side
Andrew's Story — Every Angel Investor in Africa
Andrew believed in his friend's business. He invested carefully, in stages. But without the right structure or oversight, he lost everything — R60,000 gone. Andrew is not the exception. He is every angel investor in Africa.
MSME Side
Talent Without Structure Is Capital Wasted
Most MSMEs don't fail from lack of talent — they fail from lack of access and support. The existing funding system is slow, competitive, and leaves too many behind. The system is failing the 83%.
$330B
African MSME funding gap. $23–30B in South Africa alone.
The opportunity is real. The capital exists. The Closed Circuit is built to connect them.
The Solution
A Smarter Way to Invest. Capital That Moves With Confidence.
TCC structures how capital flows between investors and MSMEs — giving both sides visibility, protection, and a shared stake in success. You stay in control at every stage.
1
Onboarding
MSME signs up, shares their business story and funding need.
2
Tranche 1
An initial tranche of capital is released when the first milestone is agreed and set.
3
Tranche 2
Progress is reviewed. The next tranche is released when delivery is confirmed.
4
Milestone Review
Both investor and MSME have visibility into progress at every stage.
⛔
Milestone Halt
If the MSME doesn't deliver, disbursement pauses and uninvested capital is protected.

TARGETED FUNDING SUCCESS RATE
Our founder's personal experience of being 1-in-4 funded by her own network became the founding insight behind TCC — and the mission to improve those odds for every MSME in Africa.
Proof of Concept · Deep Dive
The Pizza Shop Pilot. One MSME. Real Numbers.
A self-taught baker — resilient, persistent, and underserved by the formal funding system — found her way to The Closed Circuit. Her story became our first proof of concept.
2018
Redundancy forced a pivot. She went from employed to entrepreneur — self-taught, with no formal business training.
2018–2023
Built a loyal customer base through sheer persistence, navigating a pandemic and moving into a bigger market.
2023
Won a competitive government grant — but waited months for the funds, and still needed more capital to keep the business alive.
5 Apr 2024
She reached out to her community network for funding help. That message found The Closed Circuit — and our first proof of concept began.
The Halt
When execution stalled mid-pilot, disbursement was halted. R18,000 in investor capital was preserved — a 56% improvement on an unstructured investment.

"I am because you are." Shared building. Shared prosperity.
Across Africa, communities have always supported each other — through family, faith, and shared networks. TCC is built on that same spirit: turning existing social bonds into a credible pathway to capital.
We believe investment should be a shared journey — not a transaction. Both the investor and the MSME have skin in the game, and both benefit when it goes well.
